Chronic Pain Harms the Brain by Pain Fighter

on August 30, 2012

I am reblogging Chronic Pain Harms the Brain. by  One of the main reasons I’m scared to go back to work at the same place.  My brain is not the same and I know that I could not handle all the things I did before fibro.

I was afraid to come back to work after my 11-week medical leave of absence too. I’m in marketing and my job has a lot of deadlines and can be very stressful. It wasn’t as bad to come back as I thought. I have a note on my computer monitor to remind me to breathe. I set up an alarm on my phone to remind me to stretch every hour. After a month back at full time, I discovered 40 hours a week was too much for me. It was too much stress and I just didn’t have the energy to work 8 hour days. The afternoons were awful. Now I work 8am-2:30pm. 6 hour days are much better for me. It gives me the chance to rest a bit after work and then do the yoga/exercise/meditation stuff I need to do to manage my pain. It also leaves me with a bit of energy for chores and errands. Good luck!
